Building 51, Sennybridge camp

The client

MOD – Defense Training Estate, Sennybridge Camp is used by the Ministry of Defence for military training purposes. Sennybridge Camp and Army Field Training Centre, known as SENTA, is one of the major bases for Infantry Warfare Training by the British Army in the UK.

The design brief

The project was tendered as a lump sum contract, to appoint a principle contractor to deliver the refurbishment of an old stores into a temperature controlled drying facility and equipment store.

Project delivery

The scheme was designed by Atkins, who also acted as CDMc on the project. Bbi were appointed as Principle contractor

The existing building was completely refurbished, with a new roof, power supplies and heating systems. The interior of the building was subdivided into different areas using EuroBond insulated panels.

The dry rooms were built using pre-formed insulated panels within a steel frame system. Three large AHU'S formed part of a complex M&E system.

New suspended ceiling and lighting was installed throughout the building as part of the refurbishment.

Building 51 was designed to allow the SDW to dry technical and personnel equipment within 24 hours which gave the camp a more time and energy efficient facility.
